Inviting nominations for the College Motto Award of 2023
Nominations are invited for the annual College Motto Award of the CMC Alumni Association for the year 2023. The College Motto Award, originally instituted by the batch of 1949, aims to recognise and honour the practice of the College’s motto in the lives of its relatively younger alumni. While this may often be in rural, remote or impoverished communities or in the field of public health, any unpopular and underserved area of human need may be considered. The choice should be based on the closest available approximation to being “steadfast, selfless and significant”. It is presented annually at the Alumni Reunion and includes a citation, a cash award and travel expenses for the person or couple (within India). Only one candidate can be selected, except that if the spouse of the winner is also a CMC graduate (from any batch), the award should be given jointly to them.
Nominations may be made by any alumni or others who have personal knowledge of the life and work of alumni eligible for the award this year.
Eligibility: Any medical graduate of the Silver Jubilee batch for this year (1998) and four previous batches (i.e. batches 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997), whose life and work have been an exemplary demonstration of the motto of the college, “Not to be served but to serve”. Alumni currently on the staff of CMC are not eligible.
Nomination process: Nominations, in writing or by email, should be addressed to: The Secretary, CMC Alumni Association, Christian Medical College, Vellore 632002 (alumni@cmcvellore.ac.in). The nomination should give an account of the life and services of the nominee in sufficient detail to substantiate his/her suitability for the award, including contact details of the nominator and two referees.
Last date of receipt is: 5th June 2023.
Selection process: A selection committee appointed by the Alumni Association will nominate the final recipient (single or an alumni couple) who will be invited to the ceremony during the Alumni Reunion.
